Former Zavalla officer on ballot for sheriff

Posted: Updated:

A former Zavalla Police officer will be on the November ballot for sheriff of Angelina County after the Democratic executive committee formally nominated him on Tuesday.

Party Chair Jim Wark said Thomas Stewart was the lone applicant to be on the ballot, after Jim Hodges was disqualified for voting in the Republican primary.

Wark said the decision to put Stewart on the ballot was unanimous.
