A 25-mile stretch of Highway 59 north of Nacogdoches is now re-opened to traffic after being rerouted following a natural gas well explosion.
The Department of Public Safety says nobody was hurt in the predawn explosion near Appleby. The accident had forced the closure of Highway 59 from Nacogdoches County to Shelby County.
DPS says the natural gas well earlier today was spewing a mixture of salt water, mud and natural gas, but has since died down. Officials believe a problem with a support structure led to the explosion. There was no fire.
