Woodland Heights planning expansion of facilities

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - Woodland Heights Hospital in Lufkin is in the early stages of planning a major expansion which would include a new obstetrics facility and neonatal infant care unit.

According to a letter from CEO Casey Robertson to the City of Lufkin, the hospital may spend more than $5 million on the expansion, which will also include work on the operating room facility.

Hospital officials are asking the City of Lufkin to be nominated as an enterprise project, which would make it eligible for tax refunds.

The city council will consider a resolution at the Tuesday night meeting.
