LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin Zumba instructor is making a positive impact and is hoping to be recognized in a big way.

Rudy Flores teaches two Zumba classes each day on Monday through Thursday. He also holds "Zumbathons" to raise money for breast cancer awareness and Christmas toy drives. Now, he's hoping the community will help him be recognized as the "most inspirational Zumba instructor in the world". Currently, he's the only male instructor in the running. He's ranked number five in the top ten spots, with 25-thousand votes.

"We really wanted to get number ten, just to be on the leaders board, just to say Lufkin, TX that FUMC was on the board. After people started voting, it really kind of sunk in that there was that many people supporting this class, supporting me as a Zumba instructor. So, it's been overwhelming," said Flores.

Flores says the magazine has not told him when voting will end, but he says it began on August 15. The winner is set to appear in Shape magazine. To vote, go to www.shape.com/vote-zumba. Then, search for Raul Flores. From there, you will enter your name and email address to cast your vote.
