SFA football postpones season opener to Friday

Posted: Updated:

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Due to the westward path of Hurricane Isaac Stephen F. Austin has moved its season-opener against Southwestern Oklahoma to Friday at 6 p.m. announced SFA Director of Athletics Robert Hill. The game was originally slated for Thursday at 6 p.m.

"With the westward movement of Hurricane Isaac we felt this was a necessary precaution," said Hill. "We always want to do what is in the best interest of our student-athletes and fans, and didn't want to risk place them in harms way. Delaying the start of the game by 24 hours was best option for everyone involved."

The contest will serve as the season-opener for both schools. SFA enters the contest coming off a 6-5 campaign a year ago, and riding a five-game win streak. The Bulldogs were 5-6 last season.
