CHEROKEE COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Police have called off a search that lasted more than six hours after an East Texas man on a dirt bike fled from a constable early Friday morning.

The chase started at FM 747 and CR 3203 in Jacksonville and ended near the intersection of CR 3113 and 3115.

"He was on a dirt bike and came over into my lane and almost and I had to go to the side to avoid him so I turned around on him," said Precinct 3 Constable Eddie Lee.

Dash cam video taken from Constable Eddie Lee's vehicle showed the chase that led them through wet, windy roads.

"Refused to stop, he wouldn't stop at all," said Constable Lee.

Police identified the man as 42-year-old Chad Beck who happens to be a familiar face in one East Texas County.

"I knew something was wrong, but I didn't find out until later that he was wanted out of Anderson County for a burglary bond," said Constable Lee.

Beck continued to ignore the lights and sirens and led the constable to a property off of CR 3113.

The constable said Beck toppled over his dirt bike. Constable Lee said he drew his weapon, but fell, firing the gun into the ground. No one was injured by the shot, but Beck used that moment to take off on foot.

"I heard the gunshot go off and I saw this young man running across our property and behind their deck," said Sally Frank as she pointed to her neighbor's yard.

"I ran in the kitchen and I saw him run in front of our deck, and that way. So, I ducked down because I didn't want him to see me," said Sally's neighbor, Teri Capps.

Authorities searched properties and nearby woods, but after about six hours, they called off their organized search.

Beck was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue jean shorts.
