The Department of Public Safety is seeking criminal charges against a Garrison truck driver accused of killing a Diboll man in a traffic accident in August.

According to DPS spokesman David Hendry, the evidence will be turned over to the Nacogdoches County District Attorney's Office and presented to a future grand jury to be considered for indictment on a charge of criminally negligent homicide for Jerome Charez Bryant, 37.

Catarino Perez, 56, died in the accident on Aug. 28 on US 59 South in Nacogdoches County.

According to a previous report, Bryant was driving a 2006 Mack truck on FM 2782 and pulled into the southbound lane of US 59, in front of Perez's 2000 Toyota Echo. Perez died on the scene.
