LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Ellen Trout Zoo is now the home to five baby boa constrictors.

The Madagascan ground boas were born on Sept. 4. According to Director Gordon Henley, the species is the largest of the snakes on Madagascar. Henley said they get up to 10 feet as adults. The babies are nearly two feet long and can already eat small rodents.

These snakes are the first of its kind born at the zoo.
