EAST TEXAS (KTRE) - After enduring a very hot start to September, we will finally feel an early taste of fall coming up this weekend.
A strong, Canadian cold front is scheduled to move through the Piney Woods early on Saturday morning, offering us a nice reprieve from the heat. While we cannot rule out a few showers along the front, most areas will remain dry. Behind the front, our winds will pick up out of the north and usher in some cooler air and lower humidity.
High Fire Threat Saturday
The only negative outcome from this front will be the high fire danger that comes from a combination of a north wind and low humidity. Even though Trinity county is the only county under a burn ban in Deep East Texas, I would advise against doing any outdoor burning on this day.
Overnight Lows Will Be a Treat
While you will notice the lower humidity and less hot afternoon highs across the area, the biggest treat by far will be in the morning lows that set in across the Piney Woods.
By Sunday morning, most areas will be waking up to temperatures in the lower 60's. Our coolest mornings will take place on Monday and Tuesday of next week, when many areas will dip into the upper 50's for a few hours.
Warming Up by Mid-week
The pleasant conditions will remain in place from Sunday through Tuesday until a south wind ensues once again. Look for the humidity and warmer temperatures to creep back into the picture by the time we head towards the middle part of next week.
