NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) - A 35-year-old Nacogdoches man was arrested Sunday night for allegedly driving while intoxicated with a six-year-old child in the car.
Gerald T. Burson, 35, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on the DWI with a child charge, which is a state jail felony. His bond has been set at $7,500, according to a jail official.
According to the police report, the public information officer for the Nacogdoches Police Department, an NPD officer observed Burson pull into the 300 block of Rusk Street late Sunday evening. The dead-end road is "known by officers to be used as a place of narcotic consumption and other illegal activities," according to the report.
When the officer made contact with Burson, the suspect allegedly displayed several signs of intoxication. A mandatory blood draw was performed because Burson had a six-year-old child with him in the vehicle.
