NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -
Nacogdoches police officers arrested a former Varsity Bookstore employee on a state-jail felony theft charge after she allegedly stole $6.000 from the store over the course of five months, starting in May.
Kristen Verret Lewis, 22, of Nacogdoches, is still being held in the Nacogdoches County Jail on a charge of theft between $1,500 and $20,000. Her bond has been set at $5,000, according to jail records.
According to police reports, the complainant told NPD officers that Lewis had allegedly been discovered stealing cash from the store. The thefts allegedly occurred over a period of time between May 20 and Sept. 7.
