The odds of you getting wet are going up as we head towards the end of the week and into the weekend.
EAST TEXAS (KTRE) -
Our stretch of cool mornings and pleasant afternoons will be replaced by increasing humidity levels and better rain chances over the next few days.
The increasing moisture levels have already produced a few scattered showers and thunderstorms this afternoon across the Piney Woods. The rain chances will only be getting better in the days ahead as a cold front combines with the moisture to generate pockets of heavy downpours from time-to-time.
This cold front will move through on Friday, causing a wind shift just like the last front. Unlike the last front, however, we will not clear out. Instead, weak disturbances will track overhead to keep the clouds and showers around right through the weekend.
Rain Not a Bad Thing
These rain chances actually come at a very opportune time. As of today, we are now running a deficit in rainfall of 0.66" for the year. After having a surplus for most of 2012, we have been running dry over the past couple of months.
It should be noted that we are not anticipating a washout on any particular day, but certainly the chances of your neighborhood receiving some rain is fairly good over the next few days. The rain chances will start to increase on Thursday and continue through the weekend.
