MT. HOLLY, NC (WBTV) - A North Carolina dog had been lost for over three years before being reunited with her family.
When Cassie, an 11-year-old dog, wandered into Cheryl Smith's Mount Holly neighborhood, Cheryl set out to find her owner. Turns out Cassie was microchipped, and with the help of the Gaston County Animal Shelter, they tracked down her owners - in Raleigh.
When Cheryl called the Metcalf family to tell them she had Cassie, they were overwhelmed.
"The wife, Brandy, could not even speak...she was in tears...handed the phone to her husband," said Cheryl Smith.
But that phone call was nothing compared to the reunion that happened when the Metcalf family drove there to pick up their dog. It only took a few seconds for Cassie to remember her people...people who have loved her since she was a puppy.
