Lufkin best friends have babies on same day, 1 month early

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

Two Lufkin women have gone through just about everything together since they were in elementary school.

Tuesday morning, it continued when they both had their babies on the same day.

"We worked together, ran track together and did everything together," says Versia Walker, who went into labor hours after her best friend did.

Even having babies together! It all started when Thalisa English went into labor Monday night. Best friend, Versia, was by her side the entire time.

"I was jinxing her. I told her 'you're next, as soon as I have mine you're fixing to be right in here the next day' and I was like 'you might as well come and get in bed with me because you're fixing to be next,'" says English.

English was right. Except instead of being in there the next day, she was back in a couple of hours.

"When I started to have contractions at home I was like 'oh my God I am fixing to go back to this hospital with Thalisa,'" says Walker.

English was scheduled to have her son, Zamarin Shepard, on Oct. 1, 2012. Instead he came September 25, 2012, at 2:22 a.m.

Walker was scheduled to have her daughter, A'shara Walker, on October 3, 2012. Instead she also came September 25, 2012 at 9:42 a.m.

This is going to be a good experience. Now we're going to see how they are going to act together just because of how we acted," says Walker.

Both English and Walker were released Wednesday evening.

They say they plan to have joint birthday parties for the babies from now on.
