Lufkin Dickie's restaurant set to reopen tomorrow

Dickey's Barbecue in Lufkin will re-open on Friday, September 28, and they are giving the first 200 customers free sandwiches. Matthew Bonham is the new owner of this location and is ready to meet the Lufkin community.

"What's better than free food?" said Matthew Bonham, new owner of Dickey's Barbecue in Lufkin. "I am looking forward to opening and showing this wonderful community how great Dickey's Barbecue can be."

Dickey's Barbecue Pit in Lufkin is located in the Garden District Shopping Village at 4001 South Medford Drive, near Home Depot. The phone number is (936) 238-3708.

"Once Lufkin gets to know our new owner and great food, we know they will be big fans of our brand," said Roland Dickey, Jr. president of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants. "We were disappointed that the previous ownership was not in line with our high standards, but we are taking this opportunity to win back the barbecue lovers of Lufkin."

Originally from Boerne, Texas, Bonham has a Masters in agriculture from Stephen F. Austin State University and worked for Texas AgriLife Extension in the forestry field.

"I will work hard to make this location a huge success," said Bonham.  "Dickey's offers great food, exciting catering options, and a proven business model, so I feel very confident in the concept."

Founded in 1941, Dickey's Barbecue has mastered the art of slow smoking meats to perfection every night. Dickey's is proud to give the Lufkin area the right balance of juicy tender meats, topped with Dickey's family recipe barbecue sauce and savory home-style sides.

Dickey's Barbecue was founded by Travis Dickey with the goal of authentic slow smoked barbecue. More than 70 years later, the Dallas-based family run barbecue franchise still offers a quality selection of signature meats, home style sides, tangy barbecue sauce and free kids meals every Sunday.  All meats are slow smoked on site in each restaurant. The fast-casual family-friendly concept has expanded to over 250 locations in 43 states and holds the title of the world's largest barbecue franchise.

This year Nation's Restaurant News named Dickey's "Top Five Growth Chains" and they were also named "Best Franchise Deal" by QSR Magazine.  For more information, visit or for franchise opportunities, call (866) 340-6188.
