West Nile-related death reported in Hopkins County

HOPKINS COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Another death related to the West Nile Virus has been confirmed by the Texas Department of State Health Services.

DSHS officials said the death was confirmed as West Nile Virus related on Wednesday and the victim was from Hopkins County.

Officials were not able to release details on the gender, age or hometown of the victim.

DSHS said statewide deaths related to West Nile Virus range in age from 40 to 100 years of age, with the average victim being 76 years old.

Gregg County reported one new West Nile Virus case and Angelina County reported two new West Nile cases since Wednesday.
