GRAPELAND, TX (KTRE) -
Released by the Texas Department of Transportation:
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) says FM 227 west of
Grapeland will remain closed following the collapse of a culvert and partial
washing away of the roadway after continuous rain. The roadway was closed at
about 1 a.m. and will remain closed until repairs can be made.
According to TxDOT, FM 227 is closed approximately three miles
west of Grapeland where the collapse occurred. This is about a half-mile east
of FM 2544. School buses, motorists and others who travel this route must use
alternate routes to reach their destinations until the roadway is
repaired.
TxDOT crews around the Lufkin District continue to monitor this
and other roadways as rain continues to drench East Texas. Motorists are
reminded to use caution and to drive to conditions. If you encounter a flooded
road, Turn Around, Don't Drown. For information on road conditions, go
