Nacogdoches City Officials Watching The Storm

Story by Chris Cato

Scanning the latest radar images has become an almost hourly task for employees in the Nacogdoches City Manager's office. Officials there say they are not only keeping close watch on the weather, they're also monitoring the runoff from rivers that flow into area.

Victoria LaFollett, the Nacogdoches Deputy City Manager, said, "Skywarn goes out ahead of us at the creeks, at the head end of the creeks and monitors that flow so that we know what we've got coming our way and approximately how long it's gonna be."

LaFollett says they have almost every city employee on call and barricades ready to help divert traffic in case of flooding. She also has the fire and police departments ready to evacuate low lying areas.
