During a traffic stop in Polk County Wednesday, two Texas Department of Public Safety troopers arrested a 30-year-old Missouri City man for delivery of a controlled substance and unlawfully carrying a weapon after they found an estimated $200,000 worth of cocaine in his van.
Troy Anthony Jones is still being held in the Polk County Jail. Collectively for the two charges, his bond has been set at $65,000.
According to Trooper Stephanie Davis, a public information officer with the DPS District Office in Beaumont, Trooper Chad Seamans stopped a northbound 2012 Chrysler van for speeding on U.S. Highway 59 near the Seven Oaks community. During the stop, Seamans developed probable cause to search the vehicle.
Seamans and Trooper Allen Stanton found 3 kilograms of cocaine in the floor of the van, along with a Glock 9 mm handgun. They also learned that the drugs were allegedly on their way to Nacogdoches when the traffic stop occurred.
