LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A four-year-old boy is being treated for minor injuries at a Lufkin hospital after he was hit by a car after getting off the bus Friday afternoon.

According to an officer at the scene, the boy, Jaylen Meneffe, was crossing the street after getting off the bus around 2 p.m. when he was hit by a Nissan Altima at the intersection of Humason Avenue and Warren Street. Jeanette Pool, 46, said the boy actually ran out in front of her.

The officer said Jaylen's injuries are considered minor.

According to the crash report, Jaylen got out of the bus on Warren Street and ran across an intersection to his mother. Pool was coming from Humason Avenue and hit Jaylen.

According to the report, the way the bus was facing made it hard to see the front flashing lights for westbound traffic.
