Livingston man connected to youth sports suspected in child sex crimes

POLK COUNTY, TX (KTRE) - Deputies with the Polk County Sheriff's Office have arrested a Livingston man accused of sexually assaulting and having pornographic images of an underage male.

According to First Assistant District Attorney Joe Martin, the suspect, David Leroy Shannon, 46, may have other charges coming his way, as more potential victims have stepped forward.

For now, Shannon is charged with possession of child pornography and sexual assault of a child.

Martin is not releasing much information on the case, but said someone brought the two charges to authorities and Shannon was arrested on Wednesday.

Martin said Shannon has ties to at least one youth sports organization and an area church.

"We want to encourage any other alleged victims to come forward," Martin said. "But we must emphasize that he's presumed to be not guilty."

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, PCSO received information from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations that they had found five images and three videos of with Shannon and a boy between the ages of 12 and 14.

Georgia authorities were able to connect Shannon to the photos and PCSO deputies confirmed the bathroom which was in the photos and videos was the same bathroom in Shanon's house, according to the affidavit

Shannon admitted to being the adult in the photos and videos, according to the affidavit.
