LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man allegedly stole a tablet computer from a table at a local McDonalds Tuesday morning, and when he was chased and detained by a group of witnesses, he allegedly bit one of them.

‘The guy got up to refill his drink, and the suspect grabbed (the tablet computer) off his table and fled," Lt. David Young of Lufkin Police Department said.

The suspect, Jose Buenrostro, 20, is still being held in the Angelina County Jail on a robbery charge, which is a felony. No bond has been set at this time.

According to the police report, the incident took place at the McDonald's located at 1100 South Timberland Drive at 8:41 a.m. Tuesday. The Samsung tablet computer was valued at $500.

Young said the witness who was bitten is OK.

"He had a pretty substantial bite, but he's apparently OK," Young said.
