ANDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

A man is jailed tonight, accused of shooting two people that were trying to repossess his truck.

Doyle Cook was arrested after he allegedly opened fire on re-po workers overnight on County Road 109, near Elkhart.

It all began when a wrecker from Investor Recovery Service of Tyler went to Doyle Cooks home in Anderson County, to re-po a pickup truck.

"When  they hooked to the vehicle and they were leaving the property, Mr. Cook heard them, he came out of the house, and fired at them with a 45 caliber gun," said Anderson County Chief Deputy Troy Black.

The wrecker driven by Vic Crawford and passenger Jennifer Miller, continued in the repossession and drove down County Road 103.

"When they came to a stop he stepped out of his vehicle with a 223 semi-automatic rifle and was shooting at the truck. He continued to shoot at it as they drove around his vehicle and then started going towards Elkhart on FM 319," said Chief Black.

Cook reportedly shot at the truck, the windshield, the driver, and the passenger. Finally, Crawford and Miller released his truck while they continued to drive away.

"It slid off into the ditch and Mr. Cook stopped. He wanted to get his truck back. He was at that location when deputies arrived looking at his truck," said Chief Black.

Black says it was off FM 319 where deputies found Cook and arrested him. Just a few miles away, Crawford and Miller pulled to the side of the road waiting for medical assistance.

Chief Deputy Troy Black says both of the victims are at ETMC in Tyler. We're told they are both stable.

The driver received a gunshot wound to the shoulder and head. The passenger suffered a gunshot wound to the hip.

Doyle Cook is being held in the Anderson County Jail on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.
