SMITH COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Some scary moments for a truck driver after a blow out sparks a tire fire while traveling down the interstate.

Just after 9:30 a.m., an 18-wheeler traveling westbound on I-20 had a blow out around exit 565, just west of Highway 155. At that time the driver of the truck noticed smoke and pulled off onto a side road to check it out.

The right two tires of the truck were on fire. Winona and Red Springs Fire Departments responded to the scene and were able to keep the fire from reaching the cab of the truck.

A heavy duty wrecker is being called out to tow the big rig. It is not known at the time if the truck is a totaled. No one was injured.
