SHELBY COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -
Shelby County authorities have exhumed the body of a man who
died in early September in order to rule out foul play in his death.
Acting District Attorney Kenneth B. Florence said the body
of Danny Akridge, 54, of Center, has been sent to a forensic lab in Dallas to
answer any questions about the death for his family.
Akridge was found dead in September in his home off of State
Highway 7 East, just past the Excelsior school. A preliminary autopsy came back
inconclusive and Akridge was buried at Mt. Herman Cemetery in Center on Sept.
13.
Florence had the body exhumed on Friday. He confirmed there
was blood at the scene of the death, but that could have come from natural
causes.
According to his obituary, Akridge served in the US Air Force.
