Sassafras! San Augustine to host 22nd Annual Sassafras Festival

Looking for a family-friendly, fun way to spend an autumn Saturday? The San Augustine County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 22nd Annual Sassafras Festival Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Saturday's event will be held in downtown San Augustine. A postcard from the San Augustine County Chamber of Commerce stated that the festival will be a "full day of fun, great food, and entertainment."

The Dusty Boots Band will provide live entertainment from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and a patriotic concert will be held at noon.

The festival's events will include: an antique and classic car exhibit, a BBQ cook-off, a dog show, a wheel chair race, an old-fashioned fudge making contest, a food challenge, a youth wildfire judging contest, a 5K run/walk, an art show, a hospitality/souvenir booth, a book signing, reunions, a coloring contest, a free Kids Corner, arts and crafts booths, food vendor, a quilt show and sale, an Alzheimer's walk, and a hay ride.

In addition, the postcard from the San Augustine County Chamber of Commerce also said, "Our charming and unique downtown shops invite you to browse at your leisure during the festival."
