Freedom Fighters: Geneva Fields Ford

Troup, TX (KLTV) - Out of ten children in the Fields family of Troup, eight served our country in World War Two.

Geneva Fields Ford and her sister Nell were sworn into the Women's Army Auxiliary Corps(later named the Women's Army Corps) in 1942. Geneva remained in the Corps until October of 1945 when she returned home and married Curtis Ford, who had served in the Philippines and been wounded there.

At the age of 91, Geneva Fields Ford is a symbol of the American women who serve in war and then come home to raise families and build the peace.

Geneva has shared her experiences in the book "Troup Goes To War: World War Two: A Collection of Memories" available at the Troup Library.
