CORSICANA, TX (KLTV) -
Wrapped in a towel, encased in a
pillowcase and left inside a handbag, someone left a newborn baby boy outside a
home in Corsicana, TX, Sunday night.
According to the Corsicana Police,
the department's dispatch was alerted by a resident in the 500 block of North
38th Street around 9 p.m. that the handbag with the baby was left by the door
under a carport at the home.
Officers and EMS personnel found
the baby with its umbilical cord still attached.
EMS transported the baby to the
Navarro Regional Hospital for treatment.
Police alerted law enforcement agencies and hospitals in the region of the abandoned
baby in case a woman who appeared to have recently given birth arrived for
medical attention, but did not have a baby or explain where it was.
Corsicana Independent School District officials were also notified.
Anyone with information that could help identify the mother of the newborn
is asked to contact the Corsicana Police Department at 903-654-4902.
