Army sergeant saves elderly couple trapped in burning car

Posted: Updated:

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A 90-year-old man and his wife are happy to be alive after some brave strangers helped them out of danger.

Traffic cameras in Jonesboro caught the first sign of trouble when the couple's car caught fire on Tuesday. On his way to work was an Army Reserves sergeant who happened to see the burning car.

With the help of three other drivers, Seth Perrier reached inside the burning car to help the couple.

"If it was my Grandma out there, either one of them, I would hope to God somebody would stop and help them." When it comes down to it, my dad raised me right. You see somebody who needs help, you help them regardless," says Perrier.

The elderly woman says she only suffered singed hair and high blood pressure. No word yet on what caused the fire.
