LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -
In the aftermath of
trick-or-treating, parents might be wondering, what do I do with all of that
candy? A few Lufkin dentists say bring it to them - for a good cause.
Kool
Smiles Dentists is taking part in Operation Gratitude. It's a national project
that allows children to turn in their Halloween candy for toys. For every 25
pieces of wrapped candy, he or she will receive one toy. All the collected candy
will be shipped to U.S. troops.
"The candy's going to
be gathered up and separated and sent to troops overseas to bring them a little
piece of home," William Brandenburg, the manager of Kool Smiles, said."And … also
for the kids, it's going to help promote their dental health."
Kool Smiles will also
accept monetary and toy donations. The leftover toys will be donated to local
military children. The event runs November 1st thru 3rd. Donations can be
dropped off at the Kool Smiles dentist office at 400 South Timberland.
