NACOGDOCHES COUNTY, TX (KTRE) -

Nacogdoches County deputies arrested a man who is accused of stealing his friend's mother's pain pills and vehicle at her residence early Tuesday.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called out to County Road 302. Witnesses said Thomas Jeffrey Brittain, Jr., 23, of Nacogdoches, was there with friends and playing games. He then told his friend that he would move his mother's vehicle but instead drove off the property with it.

The mother also noticed her narcotic pain medication was gone. Deputies tracked Brittain down on Loop 224, between Cypress Ridge and FM 226 around 5:15 a.m. and stopped him. They reported he threw the pain medication and some drug paraphernalia out of the window.

Deputies arrested Brittain on charges of third-degree tampering with evidence and state-jail felony unauthorized use of a vehicle.
