SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5/AP) -

A man has been sentenced to 21 years in prison for breaking into the Scottsdale apartments of two women and raping them in 2012.

Judge Sherry Stephens of Maricopa County Superior Court on Tuesday also sentenced Danny T. Jackson, 19, to lifetime probation with sex-offender terms.

On June 5, Jackson pleaded guilty to six felony charges. Under his plea agreement, six other felony charges were dismissed.

Jackson was 16 at the time and a student at Scottsdale's Chaparral High School. He was charged as an adult.

He is no stranger to police. He has a criminal past which police would only say includes crimes related to the ones he is currently being held for.

Court documents from February of 2010 show that Jackson was suspected of assaulting a middle school teacher when he was 13. The case was dismissed, according to the documents.

In February of 2011, Jackson was suspected of an assault with intent to injure, but the Maricopa County Attorney's Office did not file charges.

He was suspected of taking another's ID in June of 2012, a case that went through a diversion program to avoid charges.

Sgt. Mark Clark with the Scottsdale Police Department said the police lab positively connected the suspect to forensic evidence from both attacks.

Police said the teenager's name came in through a tip from the community, and because they had prior contact with him, he was already in their system.

"As soon as the evidence was developed that identified a specific suspect, we were able to locate him and get him arrested quickly for community safety," Clark said.

Jackson was arrested without incident near his apartment in the 10000 block of Scottsdale Boulevard. He lived near both of the apartment complexes where police said the two rapes occurred Oct. 18 and Oct. 24, 2012.

Scottsdale police served a search warrant at the suspect's home and collected more evidence.
