Police: Lufkin woman assaulted after man tries to siphon her gas

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) - A woman told Lufkin Police officers that she was assaulted by a man that she caught trying to siphon gas from her family's Chevrolet Cavalier Monday night.

According to the police report, the incident occurred in the 700 block of Newsome Ave. at 6:48 p.m. Monday. The woman told police that when she confronted the suspect, he yelled at her, grabbed her hair, threw her to the ground, and got on top of her. However, the man fled on foot when the woman kicked him.

The complainant told police that the suspect was a tall, black man who is partially bald. She said that he was wearing black framed glasses, had a flat nose, and had large ears. In addition, the woman told police that one of the man's eyes and his lower lip appeared to be swollen, and he was missing his top two middle teeth.

"Based on the complainant's description of the suspect, the responding officers identified and interviewed a possible suspect," the police report stated. "The incident was referred for further investigation."
