Suspects sought in strong-arm robbery of cabbie in Mesa

Posted: Updated:

Mesa police are looking for two men they said beat and robbed a taxi driver early Wednesday morning.

Two men in their 20s caught a AAA Taxi in a parking lot at 601 S. Alma School Rd. about 4:40 a.m. and began punching the driver in his face as he drove through the lot, according to a Mesa Police Department report.

The suspects then forcibly removed a wallet from the driver's pocket and jumped out of the taxi, over a wall and into an alley, where the driver lost sight of them, police said.

No other information was immediately available.
