LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -
Lufkin
will be hosting a rally to congratulate Brandon Belt on the San Francisco
Giants' recent sweep of the World Series against the Detroit Tigers at 5:30
p.m. Wednesday.
The rally
will be held at the George H. Henderson Jr. Expo Center located on Lufkin's
loop 287. Attendees are urged to enter via the entrance on the opposite side of
the Ellen Trout, wear orange and black, and bring signs.
"We want
to have a great turn to celebrate Brandon," Stephanie Oliver, the president of The Journey, A Magazine for
Women & EAST Magazine, wrote in an e-mail.
Oliver
urged people to share word about the Lufkin rally for Brandon Belt on their
Facebook pages and Web sites.
Hudson
ISD held a rally for Belt Monday. The school district also honored him during
its recent Red Ribbon Week festivities.
Belt, a
first baseman for the Giants, is a graduate of Hudson High School. He played
baseball for the Hudson Hornets. After playing at the college level for San
Jacinto College North and the University of Texas at Austin, he was drafted by
San Francisco in the 5th round of the 2009 amateur draft. He made is Major
League Baseball debut on March 31, 2011 in a game against the Los Angeles
Dodgers.
