United Soccer of Texas is hosting their first of many games on Sunday at Morris Frank Park in Lufkin. The adult soccer league has participants from 9 different East Texas counties, and are hoping to show positive changes beginning this season.
"We want to show that our league is strong," said United Soccer of Texas VP Reynaldo Rios. "We want fans and players to come out and see the changes that have been made out there, and everything the city is doing to provide that."
The league is looking to grow beyond Morris Frank and into a new soccer complex. And they hope to gather funds to start developing high standard fields and facilities for the future.
"We want our sport to grow in Lufkin and East Texas, because I see the passion for the game all around, and we just want a park to call our own home field," said Rios.
United Soccer of Texas will be offering 5 active leagues during the year, as well as 5 local tournaments. You can find more information at www.unitedsoccertexas.com .
