YUMA, AZ (AP) -
A man has been arrested in Yuma for allegedly failing to register as a sex offender.
Yuma police say officers responded to a call of an attempted child abduction about 8 a.m. Thursday.
The 12-year-old male victim told police that a man allegedly grabbed him as he was walking to school. The juvenile says he escaped the man's grasp, ran to a convenience store and called police.
Police say initial information led them to a possible suspect, who was detained and interviewed but eventually cleared in the case.
But police say 19-year-old Jason Riddle had an outstanding felony warrant for failing to register as a sex offender and he was booked into the Yuma County Detention Center.
Authorities didn't immediately know if Riddle had a lawyer yet.
