LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -
If you're a veteran and looking to
save some money, then there are plenty of local establishments that can help.
SportsClips is offering free haircuts
to all veterans and active military personnel on Saturday and Sunday. It's a token of appreciation for all those
that serve our country with honor.
"They will be getting a free haircut
with a MVP upgrade. The MVP comes with a haircut, a hot steam towel, messaging
shampoo and a neck and shoulder message," said Sheri Sherman, SportsClips
manager.
The free haircuts are nice, but it's
not the only way SportsClips is giving back to the military.
"This weekend, Saturday and Sunday,
we will be donating a dollar of every haircut to our cause, VFW, Operation
Uplink," said Sanford.
Operation uplink, is a program that
pays for phone calls that active military members make back home to their families.
Over the last 5 years, SportsClips has donated over 1.8 million phone calls to
the program.
This weekend, the city of Nacogdoches
will be honoring veterans with a parade and a free meal for them and their
families at Hotel Fredonia.
"We've done it every year and
it's our way of saying thank you," said Susan Reents, owner of Hotel Fredonia.
Several restaurants are serving up
awesome deals for veterans.
Applebee's Restaurant will be offering
a free signature entrée on Sunday. The
restaurant's goal is to serve 1 million meals across the nation.
Olive Garden will also offer a
free entree.
If, fish is your main dish head over
to Red Lobster where you can get a free appetizer.
Veterans wanting to watch football on
Sunday and enjoy a free meal can stop by Wing Stop and receive two free
