Freeze Warnings now posted for parts of East Texas

Posted: Updated:
EAST TEXAS (KTRE) -

Many parts of East Texas could be in store for their first freeze of the fall season tonight as temperatures dip down into the lower and middle 30's.

Due to the anticipation of the first freeze, a Freeze Warning has been issued for Cherokee, Nacogdoches, Rusk, and Shelby counties through 9am Tuesday morning.  These counties include the cities of Wells, Alto, Rusk, Mount Enterprise, Henderson, Nacogdoches, Central Heights, Chireno, Woden, Appleby, Garrison, Center, Timpson, Joaquin, and Tenaha just to name a few.

This freeze warning means that freezing conditions are likely overnight.  While we are just expecting a light freeze, go ahead and cover those tender plants and vegetation that are sensitive to the cold weather.

It should be noted that even though there are no freeze warnings in effect for Angelina county and points to the south and west, it would still be a wise idea to cover those plants that are susceptible to the cold weather just to take the safe precaution.
