LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -
Lufkin ISD Superintendent Roy Knight announced his retirement Tuesday, calling an end to a 21-year service to the district.
Knight made the announcement in a letter to his board of trustees.
Knight said the retirement takes effect June 30.
"As
you all know, I have spent twenty-one years of my thirty-nine years in this
business in Lufkin, Texas," Knight stated. "Lufkin ISD
has been home to me and my family for a large portion of my life and this
community has been very generous to me. I
am proudest of my affiliation with such a caring and dedicated staff that works
in this district for all our children. Any recognition that I have received has
always been a result of this hardworking staff."
