TUSAYAN, AZ (CBS5) -

A prescribed burn is planned for west of Tusayan this week, a Kaibab National Forest official said.

The Tusayan Ranger District is set to burn 167 acres southwest of the Grand Canyon Airport on Wednesday and 50 acres near the Apache Stables on Thursday.

A southeast wind is expected to carry smoke away from Tusayan, the Airport and Highway 64, District Fire Management Officer Quentin Johnson said.
