NACOGDOCHES, TX (KTRE) -
A 22-year-old
Diboll woman received a sentence of 60 days in the county jail and 5 years of
probation Thursday in connection to a Jan. 28, 2011 hit and run accident on SE
Loop 224 in which she hit a 48-year-old man, causing serious injuries.
Jafrina
Seymone Jackson pleaded guilty to a charge of accident causing serious bodily
injury in Nacogdoches County District Court.
She was
arrested by the Nacogdoches Police Department on Feb. 16, 2011 after turning
herself in on a warrant for felony failure to stop and render aid. Jackson was
the driver of a vehicle that struck 48-year-old Jose Guadalupe Ramirez on Jan.
28. She left the scene without rendering aid or providing information.
"Witnesses at the
scene provided investigators with a description of the vehicle that left the
scene," NPD Sgt. Greg Sowell said at the time. "Through the investigative
process, officers were able to obtain a photograph of the suspect vehicle from
a local business, but the photo was of poor quality."
Nacogdoches
CrimeStoppers received an anonymous tip about Jackson possibly being in the
Diboll area. Further investigation provided enough information for an arrest
warrant to be issued. The case was investigated by the NPD Traffic Division and
the Diboll Police Department.
