Refinery fire in Garland will slow traffic in DFW area Friday night

GARLAND, TX (KLTV) -  A fire has taken over a refinery in Garland Friday afternoon, causing an evacuation and heavily congested traffic.

3100 block of Wood Drive and Industrial Lane in Garland near the Dallas border. According to WFAA-8 in Dallas, authorities have evacuated a quarter-mile area around the plant, and are urging people in the area to stay inside their homes, especially if they have any respiratory issues. They have also closed Jupiter Road to traffic.

Motorists are advised to expect delays as they travel 635 this evening. East Texans who are heading to John Tyler High School and Whitehouse High School games Friday evening will experience delays, and should plan their trips accordingly. If you have a loved one driving there tonight, alert them to the situation in the area of 635 and Jupiter Rd.
