Hammond shares action-filled, true story of restoration and fulfillment in Christ
Maitland, FL (PRWEB) November 16, 2012
In his new book, Heaven on the Hardwood ($15.99, paperback, 978-1-62419-191-6; $7.49, e-book, 978-1-62419-192-3) Brady Hammond’s mission is to demonstrate how a reader can use his or her passions for “something greater” than themselves. Hammond uses his lifelong journey in the game of basketball to testify of this. The author had once aspired to be a famous NBA player, but ended up obtaining something even greater.
“I hope readers will feel inspired to embrace their passions as gifts from God and gain a greater understanding of how to use those gifts for His purposes as opposed to just their own,” states the author. “Most ‘basketball’ books are by famous college or NBA coaches who are relatively older and hard to relate to. My book, on the other hand, is by an ordinary, twenty-five year old high school coach, who has just as insightful things to say about basketball but does so through his unique and passionate journey in the game.”
Brady Hammond grew up in a Christian home hoping to become a famous NBA basketball player. Once he discovered that dream wasn’t going to happen, he struggled to find meaning and purpose in his life; he began looking for it in all the wrong places. Upon hitting rock bottom, Hammond came to know Jesus on a deeper level and is unexpectedly blessed with a youth director position as well as a varsity head-coaching job right out of college. He now teaches and coaches in Liberty, MO where he also sponsors Fellowship of Christian Athletes and helps with the youth group at Liberty Christian Fellowship.
