LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

Longview native Puett Wilcox joined the Air Force at the age of eighteen.  On his second mission in Europe as a ball turret gunner during World War Two, Puett's plane was shot down and he was wounded.

Just before takeoff, he saw a vision of Jesus indicating that the plane would crash but he would survive.  It was a vision that would sustain him through the deadly crash and his year as a prisoner of war.

Wilcox went on to fly 50 missions over Korea during the Korean War and to serve in the Air Force 25 years.
