BRYAN, TEXAS (ETSN.FM) - The Lufkin Panthers advanced to the third round of the playoffs for the first time since 2005 on Saturday as Tyler Stubblefield threw seven touchdown passes to beat Pflugerville, 56-43, in a Class 5A Division II Region II area playoff.
After knocking off perianal playoff power Lake Travis in the bi-district round, Pflugerville (8-4) couldn't repeat its playoff magic as Lufkin (9-3) found success in the air in the first half to build a 35-17 hafltime lead.
"They're feeling good about themselves and they're flying around," Lufkin coach Todd Quick said. "We've just got to keep it going."
Lufkin will play Plano West at 2 p.m. Saturday at Waco ISD Stadium.
