Numerous families were displaced after fire tore through an apartment complex in Sulphur Springs over the weekend.

The Sulphur Springs Fire Department is still investigating the fire, but they have not determined a cause as of yet.

Officials say sixteen apartments are a total loss, and 13 families lived in those apartments. One other apartment has heavy water damage.

The fire department is taking witness statements, and they say no one will be allowed into the second floor of the building because it is not safe. Residents who live on the bottom floor might be allowed back after the investigation is complete.

Authorities say seven families are being put into hotel rooms by the local Red Cross, while others are staying with friends and family. They are not sure if any pets were lost in the fire.

The apartment manager says every family will be able to move into different apartments at the Quail Ridge Complex. They are working on getting vacant apartments ready for move-in.

No injuries except minor injuries to firefighters.
