Knife-wielding man allegedly takes Lufkin business owner's truck

LUFKIN, TX (KTRE) -

A knife-wielding man with a black bandana over his face allegedly robbed a Lufkin business owner Monday night. After the owner of Los Regios locked herself in a bathroom, the man reportedly stole her pickup.

"At this time, no arrests have been made, and the case is being investigated by detectives," Scott Cagnon, a spokesman for the Lufkin Police Department said.

According to the police report, the aggravated robbery took place at approximately 8:33 p.m. at Los Regios business located at 707 N. Raguet Street.

The owner told Lufkin Police officers that a light-skinned man who was could have been Hispanic entered through the unlocked back door of her business. He had a black bandana over his nose and mouth. After the man brandished a large knife and demanded money, he shoved the woman into the bathroom, according to the police report. The business owner locked the door from the inside.

"It was very scary," Alice Diaz, the owner of the land the business is on, said. "She thought he was going to cut her up with the knife. He kept swinging it around."

When she heard the suspect leave via the back door, the woman came out of the bathroom and found that her purse had been emptied. The woman went outside and found that her truck, a white 2000 Dodge Dakota, had been stolen. In addition to the truck, the man stole more than $200 from the cash register, along with the woman's cell phone.

No other information on the man's description was available.

The stolen truck was found behind ABC Storage at approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday morning.
