Employee Resigns Before Being Terminated

She's accused of theft. But, in lieu of being terminated, an employee at the Nacogdoches County Sheriff's office has resigned.

Recently, irregularities were found in the funds she managed for the East Texas Peace Officers Association, as well as some other accounts.

Authorities had the opportunity to completely examine the internal investigation and determine that there had been enough violations of policies to terminate King. Although she was given the option of resigning, authorities say their investigation is far from over.

Nacogdoches County Sheriff Thomas Kerss said, "There hasn't been any arrest made...the circumstances surrounding the case continues to mount. It's obvious to us an arrest will probably be imminent in the case."

There is also a criminal investigation involving King, which is still on-going. Sheriff Kerss says because they're waiting for bank records and documentations this could continue through the beginning of August.

According to the sheriff, King had stated she was willing to cooperate to get the situation resolved.
