Lufkin man allegedly stabs wife in thigh and arm

HUNTINGTON, TX (KTRE) -

A Lufkin man allegedly stabbed his wife in the arm and thigh during a domestic dispute at an RV park near Huntington Monday morning.

James Russel Sandel, 42, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and posssesion of marijuana under two ounces, and he was transported to the Angelina County Jail. Although no bond has been set for the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, the bond for the possession charge is $1,500.

Huntington Police officers and Angelina County Sheriff's deputies responded to the domestic dispute at an RV park off of Old Highway 69, or County Road 213 at about 11 a.m.

The woman's injuries weren't life threatening, and after emergency personnel checked her out at the scene, she chose not to be transported to a Lufkin hospital.
